8 वर्ष की आयु में पिताजी को खोया ,अपनी माता जी को खेतीबाड़ी करते हुए गुजर बसर करते हुए देखा ,सरकारी विद्यालय में अपनी शिक्षा पूरी की , 20 वर्ष की आयु में एक जानलेवा सड़क दुर्घटना का सामना किया ,1 साल चंडीगढ़ PGI में इलाज चला ,ज़िंदा रहने का 20% Chance था ,दुर्घटना की वजह से भारतीय सेना में जाने का बचपन का सपना टूटा ,पर फिर भी होंसला ऐसा की कमाल कर दिखाया इस पहाड़ी लाल ने ……बिना किसी कोचिंग के हिमाचल प्रदेश की सबसे अव्वल और कठिन परीक्षा में चौथा स्थान हासिल किया ….
असफलता एक चुनौती है, स्वीकार करो, क्या कमी रह गयी, देखो और सुधार करो, जब तक न सफल हो नींद चैन को त्यागो तुम, संघर्ष का मैदान छोड़कर मत भागो तुम, क्योंकि कुछ किये बिना ही कभी जय जयकार नहीं होती, कोशिश करने वालों की कभी हार नहीं होती।

Background : मेरा नाम विनीत कुमार ठाकुर है। मैं सिरमौर जिला की पच्छाद तहसील के गांव डिंगर- किन्नर का निवासी हूँ जोकि हिमाचल प्रदेश निर्माता डॉक्टर यशवंत सिंह परमार जी के जन्म स्थान चन्हालग से मात्र 4 km की दूरी पर स्थित है।
मैंने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा कक्षा 8 तक सरकारी स्कूल डिंगर- किन्नर से ग्रहण की तथा 10वीं सरकारी विद्यालय बसाहाँ से उतीर्ण की। अतः 10 वीं तक की पढ़ायी मैंने सरकारी स्कूल से तथा हिंदी माध्यम में पूरी की।
उसके बाद, शमशेर स्कूल नाहन से 12 वीं की और फिर राजकीय महाविद्यालय नाहन से बी. एस. सी की।
Initially, I was inclined towards the prestigious Indian Army and cleared CDS also but I met with an accident and hence I had to give up my aim of wearing the Olive Green.
But I still had a fire in my belly and I promised myself that I will keep it ignited.
It took almost 1 year to get physically recovered. Thereafter I started focusing on Civil exams and gave the 2017 UPSC Civil Service Exam with full energy but missed the cut-off by 67. Cut off that year was 105.34 and I scored 104.67.
I cleared HAS prelims in 2017 and also cleared Naib Tehsildar prelims and Range Forest Officer prelims but I could not clear the mains of any of the above-mentioned exams.
Next year in 2018, I cleared HAS prelims, NT prelims, allied prelims but could not clear NT and Allied mains and cleared HAS mains only. I appeared for Personality Test but could not come into the final merit list.
Thereafter, I FAILED in Allied prelims and took it as a Blessing in Disguise and prepared wholeheartedly to improve HAS mains score and finally, I got the Rank 4 in the HPAS-2018 examination.
The lessons to be learnt from my success story are ;
# गिरते हैं शह सवार ही मैदान ए जंग में, वो तिफ्ल ही क्या गिरेंगे जो घुटनों के बल चले: means life, career, competition everything is quite unpredictable and subjective but you will have to rise again and again till you get your goal.
# Some goals are so worthy, it’s glorious even to fail, so don’t pray for an easy life rather pray for the strength to endure the difficult one.
# Patience and Perseverance are the keys here.
# There is no shortcut to success, you will have to work hard.
# Never compare yourself with others
Finally, कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि।। अर्थात कर्तव्य-कर्म करनेमें ही तेरा अधिकार है, फलोंमें कभी नहीं। अतः तू कर्मफलका हेतु भी मत बन और तेरी अकर्मण्यतामें भी आसक्ति न हो।
All the best warriors and get ready to fight and fight to win because कश्ती लहरों से टकरायेगी, तो ही किनारे नसीब होंगे।
जब टूटने लगे हौसले तो बस ये याद रखना,
बिना मेहनत के हासिल तख्तो ताज नहीं होते,
ढूंढ़ लेते हैं अंधेरों में मंजिल अपनी,
जुगनू कभी रौशनी के मोहताज़ नहीं होते।
